In 2014 Lai Switchboards Australia was engaged by Coleman Rail to provide equipment for medium voltage reticulation at the Pacific National Dynan Rd Terminal. A major upgrade to the existing terminal included new 11kV cranes and upgrade of the aging 6.6kV system to a new 11kV system.
The work performed by Lai Switchboards included the following:
- 2x 11kV modular kiosks substations with oil type transformers, RMU and LV end’s.
- 1x 11kV Weatherproof 4way RMU with VCB’s & remote operating panel.
- 1x 11kV prefabricated switchroom with 11kV Primary fully withdrawable switchgear.
- Low voltage switchboards
Lai Switchboards Australia’s ability to manufacture the whole solution in house was a major advantage to the project. Lai produced the design, sheet metal, powder coating, structural steel, prefab switchroom, electrical & controls fit out, all off site. This also allowed switchgear & protection system commissioning to be done off site and away from the complications of a busy working rail yard. The experience of our own transport division was also indispensable when it came to delivering the wide load.
